Concepts Tattoo – Aftercare Instructions

Thank you for getting tattooed at Concepts Tattoo! Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and stays looking its best.

If You’re Wearing Second Skin (Saniderm, Dermalize, etc.):

Leave the second skin on for a minimum of 3 days (72 hours).

It acts as a barrier to bacteria and helps lock in your body’s natural healing process.

You may notice fluid buildup under the second skin – this is normal

After You Remove the Second Skin:

Gently remove the second skin under warm running water if needed — don’t pull it off dry.

Once removed, allow the tattoo to breathe for the next 24 hours — no creams or coverings during this time.

Wash the area 1–2 times a day using non-fragranced, antibacterial soap (e.g., Simple, Carex).    •    Pat dry with a clean towel — do not rub.⸻💧 Moisturising the Tattoo:

After the 24-hour dry period, apply a very thin layer of aftercare cream:

Recommended: Palmers Cocoa Butter or Apollo Tattoo Aftercare.

Less is more! Do not over-apply — the skin needs to breathe.

Apply 2–3 times a day for the next 7–10 days, or until fully healed.

If the area becomes too shiny or sticky, you’ve used too much.

🚫 What to Avoid:

No soaking — avoid baths, swimming pools, saunas, or hot tubs for at least 2–3 weeks.

No picking, scratching, or peeling the tattoo — even if it itches.

No sun exposure — keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while healing.

Do not re-bandage the tattoo once second skin is removed unless advised.

Healing Timeline (approximate):

Days 1–3: Redness, soreness, and fluid under the second skin.

Days 4–7: Light flaking and mild itchiness — totally normal.

 Days 7–14: Peeling and settling.

Full surface healing: 2–3 weeks.

Full internal healing: Up to 6–8 weeks.⸻
